About me

Thank you for visiting my website. I am Mary-Ellen Lukey, I have a naturally empathic and warm nature and after experiencing my own life challenges and seeking counselling I was amazed at the difference it made to my life. I then trained as a Person-Centred and Experiential Counsellor and have now helped many clients explore their own challenges in a empowering and non-judgemental environment and experienced them coming out the other side with increased self-awareness and acceptance, feeling a more confident and resilient person.

I currently have two voluntary roles, one as a volunteer counsellor for a local charity offering low cost counselling in my local area, as well as a Trauma Risk Management practitioner role, assessing those who have experienced a traumatic event, aiming to identify people needing early signposting to additional support, which means I am a trauma informed counsellor.

I have always loved animals, particularly horses, and so equine therapy has seemed like a natural progression for me, and I love the fact that horses can teach us so much about ourselves.

I hold the following qualifications:

  • BACP approved CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in supporting trauma risk management
  • Mental Health First Aider

I also hold CPD certificates in Suicide first aid and equine therapy amongst others.

I am fully insured and I am a registered member of the BACP and abide by their ethical framework.
