Counselling out in the fresh air with a pony.

Equine-assisted therapy is an innovative and experiential form of counselling that can help you gain deeper self-awareness and emotional growth. Horses, as herd animals, are highly sensitive to human emotions and non-verbal communication. By working with them, you can:

  • Improve emotional regulation and mindfulness.
  • Develop trust, boundaries, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience a sense of connection and grounding in the present moment.

No prior experience with horses is necessary—what matters is your openness to the experience.

The main part of my equine therapy work is being out in nature in the presence of my therapy pony, which is therapeutic in itself. Activities will include grooming and walk and talk therapy. There is no ridden work. I will work in a person-centred way with you just as I would in a therapy room as we explore your inner world.

I work with adults and young people over the age of 15.

I offer 50 minute equine therapy sessions. I usually suggest that for the first six weeks you have weekly sessions (which can be paid for as a bundle if you prefer, making it slightly cheaper - see fees page) and after that you can either continue with weekly sessions or move to fortnightly sessions if you feel that works better for you and makes it more affordable.

I am able to work with many challenges including depression, anxiety and childhood trauma to name a few.  However, if I feel that I am not the best fit for your particular needs I will let you know during the initial free 20 minute assessment and will make suggestions as to where there may be a better solution for you.

  • Contact me by email with a brief explanation of why you are reaching out and I will get back to you to arrange an online or telephone consultation (express your preference in your email).
